Commercial Driver’s Licenses

DCTC has been training truck drivers since the doors opened in 1971. Today, it is home to the Land Transportation & Safety Center of Excellence, which is a nationally known and recognized.

The truck driver training program adheres to the highest standards of quality, producing safe, competent, and employable truck drivers in the most efficient manner possible.

Class B Truck Driver Training • $600 - Overview

This course qualifies a driver to operate a truck without a trailer, like a dump truck, cement mixer, cement block truck, or truck tractor. Classroom topics cover pre-trip vehicle inspections. Most of the program is hands-on driving experience with an emphasis on safety and competency.

This is an open enrollment course consisting of three 8-hour days and one 2-hour test appointment at the license exam station. Class meets from 8am-4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday during the second week of each month.

Program features:

  • One session per month, 12 sessions per year
  • Life-long placement service through DCTC Careers Services department

Prerequisites:

  • Class B CDL permit
  • DOT physical examination
  • Drug test.
