Harold Torrence brings an extensive background in international business and a passion for thoroughly understanding the culture of the businesses for which he works to the DCTC Customized Training staff.
Harold holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from UNITEC in Venezuela, a master's degree in Management from Hamline University, and is a candidate for a master's degree to be awarded in 2005 in Public Administration from Hamline.
Harold began his career in Venezuela, where he spend three years supporting the consumer sales and marketing department through an internal sales force and independent distributors that covered an eight-state Venezuelan region. In the US, Harold spent three years developing an international distribution network with a human resources consulting firm; sold software, training, and consulting products to Latin American companies; acted as a liaison and interpreter for businesses; and researched and worked on the development of new distribution methods.
Harold has achieved a great deal with all of his work, with successes such as designing and implementing a business intelligence control system that enhanced sales administration and expanded the customer base from 350 to 1300 clients; developing and implementing two separate marketing research studies in the Venezuela consumer lubricants market; increasing the presence of the international consulting business for which he was working from 4 to 13 Latin American countries, and successfully managing a team that performed language and culture customization of OD consulting and training products.
Harold looks forward to more opportunities to apply his experience and passion for business and education through his role with Dakota County Technical College Customized Training.
